πŸ“ Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Cut the Fabric

Start with one rectangular piece of fabric measuring about 40 cm wide x 25 cm high (or adjust based on your preferred pouch size). You can hem the edges if your fabric frays easily.

Step 2: Mark Folding Lines

Lay the fabric right side down (if printed).

  • From the bottom edge, measure up 12 cm and mark a line. This is Fold 1 – the first pocket.

  • From the same bottom edge, measure 24 cm and mark. This is Fold 2 – it will form the second pocket and leave the top flap.

  • The remaining top 1 cm is seam allowance or flap edge.

You should now have three segments:

  • Bottom 12 cm (Pocket 1)

  • Middle 12 cm (Pocket 2)

  • Top 1 cm + 12 cm (Flap)

Step 3: Fold and Press

  • Fold the bottom part (up to 12 cm line) upward – this is Pocket 1.

  • Then fold the top part (down to 24 cm line) downward – this overlaps and creates Pocket 2.

  • The very top 1 cm acts as a flap closure.

Press with an iron to hold the folds in place, or pin them.

Step 4: Sew the Sides

Sew along both vertical sides of the folded fabric to enclose the pockets. You’re stitching through all layers. Backstitch at the top and bottom for durability.

Optional: Use a zigzag stitch or pinking shears to prevent fraying.

Step 5: Add Closures (Optional)

If you want the pouch to close securely:

  • Add Velcro or snap buttons under the flap.

  • Or sew on a decorative button with a loop.

Step 6: Turn and Finish

  • If you sewed with the fabric inside out, turn it right side out.

  • If you sewed on the outside (visible seams), leave as-is for a rustic or minimalist look.
